Pop Quiz

You’re a good person.  You go to church every week.  You donate resources to help others.  You spend time in prayer and even read the Bible. As far as you're concerned, you do all the right things.

Having been triggered by a couple of situations, I mentally embraced a ‘reflect-on-this’ question earlier in the week. I recalled an article written long ago by Seth Godin when I was challenged with, "Answer me this, my friend'.  In his publication, Seth points to our desire to be noticed while we strive to succeed.

The question that sparked this recollection pointed toward living life as Christians.  The presented quiz might help to determine how successful we might be in our quest to live like Jesus.

Should you wish to play, answer honestly.

If you were to suddenly and permanently
leave your job or your neighborhood,
would your absence create a hole
in the lives of those sharing space with you?

Spend some time with this.  People would either be glad to see you go or they would miss you. If missed, ask why. Hopefully, the response would rest on the fact that in quiet, consistent and self-sacrificial ways, you contribute value to their lives.

The point is to discover how your daily life brings the 'Light of the World' to your place in the world.

Read Seth’s article but view it from the point of living a Jesus-centered life while projecting the premise well beyond any short term goals of this life. Consider your journey carefully while noticing typical trends in your exchanges with others.

The entire world is now living in health-challenging times.  What will it look like on the other side of this crisis?  Will the light shine brighter or will it be diminished?

It's up to you and me.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:5
