That title is called a ‘football cadence'.
I’ve read that 2022 is the very first time that Valentine’s Day can be called ‘post-game day’ for the Super Bowl.
This is just too confusing. Just how does one reconcile the Super Bowl with the traditional day which speaks of love? Well, that cadence speaks to it, I suppose.
I think there is less confusion here in Ohio. Yes, the Cincinnati Bengals are playing Rams today. Those of you in Minnesota can probably relate to what is going on here.
For the past couple of weeks, I think the definition of ‘newsworthy’ was re-written for Ohio residents. I am also convinced that even the traditional “February love” will be shut out and completely helpless in any attempt to kick so much as a field goal today.
But I believe! I think some people are very creative! I think that these individuals can combine these two events and produce something unique and astronomically special. Or, maybe just corny, I don't know.
You could, for example, create heart-shaped nachos. And while snacking and sipping wheat or barley-based brews you could surprise the love of your life by saying, "You complete me. You're the only receiver I see, honey."
After your team scores the first touch-down, you could stand up, slam your it's-my-good-luck-football on the carpet proclaiming, "This end zone is for you and me, babe."
During halftime, you could kneel using your NFL-approved kneepads and say, "I love you more than the Super Bowl commercials." (Yeah, I know - that one is going to be tough.)
The point is - you could.
It's always the point. There are plenty of opportunities to express love for your one-and-only, AND for others. The only requirement is to look. To spend an extra second or two and ask yourself what might make someone's life better if only for a minute.
I lied. There are two requirements. First, you look and then you act.
You can change a life today whether you're waiting for a bus or waiting for that touchdown. Every one of us could wear a Super Bowl Ring.
Now, I don't know what's going to happen with the game today, but I did find this:
"I saw it attack the ram furiously, striking the ram and shattering its two horns. The ram was powerless to stand against it; the goat (read "cat") knocked it to the ground and trampled on it, and none could rescue the ram from its power." Daniel 8:7
Perhaps you think of this as irreverent, so I'll just leave you with another.
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality." Romans 12: 9-13
And by the way, I am still pitching "Everybody Deserves."
While you are looking, see if you can't find someone who truly deserves a standing ovation.
