We Become – a New Mantra

  1. “We are our choices.” Jean-Paul Sartre
  2. “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
  3. “Decisions shape our lives more than circumstances.” Steven Covey
  4. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23

Most will see a pattern when reading the first three quotes but will question how the fourth dovetails with the others.

A Matter of Degree

Towards the end of the TV show, a mother explains that she always tells her child, "Take what you need but give all you can." Kojak (2005) Season 1, Episode 2.

A feel-good ending and this capped it off nicely, I thought.  I was not in the mood to write and thought this would be a good way to complete my self-imposed deadline in a simple yet powerful way.  Just a quick check to see where this quote might have originated, and I am good to go.

Oops.

I Must be Blind

Work has been well, challenging.

An integral business system was poorly designed.  An out of the box solution was purchased on the cheap.  Training and support determined to be too expensive.  Against the advice of the provider, all data was imported from the old system.  Getting what we paid for, this data continues to disrupt today as if it were the first bug-filled moments of implementation two years ago.

Even when we think we might be getting a handle on it, we find that our forced trial-and-error efforts were not appreciated by the system and in fact, created more and sometimes deeper issues.

Frustration is taking its toll on everybody.

I’m frustrated too.  I am weary of fighting the system and fighting those people that need to adopt and use the system.
